Mindful and Spiritual Value of Finance
Life well-lived includes financial and spiritual richness. Financial success in life depends on many factors: high income, high savings rate, high return on investments etc. Spiritual well-being is rooted in the peace of mind.
I can help my clients to plan for both.
All elements of successful financial planning depend on the assumption that my clients will not suffer catastrophic financial losses due to circumstances outside of their control - accident, illness, disability, death etc. It’s worth acknowledging that misfortune, suffering and impermanence – is part of life and living.
Uncertainty of life MUST be considered as a factor for financial success:
- proper consideration of all possible sources of financial loss
- implementation of adequate measures to protect against catastrophic financial loss
Risk management is a key element is the process of offering financial advice and ability to cope on practical and spiritual level is important as well
In my work of financial advise and planning I focus on the financial side of misfortunes and tragedies, not on the emotional or social effects. Yet I am very aware that the emotional effects of a crisis may seriously disrupt family’s income flow in the short and even long term, so this too should be part of consideration.
Alternatively it is far easier to cope with a crisis and misfortune if you are financially secure.
In my work as a councillor it was notable how people facing stressful events could cope and recover a lot better if they weren’t facing financial challenges concurrently.
The bottom line is preparation prevents desperation. Dalai Lama often speaks of reflecting on impermanence of life and advises people to live ethically and to cultivate positive relationships with others and undertake practical actions to create peace of mind and a life well-lived. He encourages individuals to make arrangements to organize their affairs such way as not to unnecessarily burden themselves and their close kinship.
My view is organizing practical matters can be done mindfully and spiritually. I feel it is an honour and a privilege to help my clients to make ethical, responsible and empowering decisions.
I wonder what are things that you don’t do ?
